They can be acquired through crafting, purchased from vendors, or purchased on the trading post, or looted or acquired as a reward. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Upgrade components can be divided into two categories: universal and type-restricted. Universal upgrades, like gemstones, can be placed in any kind of equipment, whereas types-restricted upgrades, like inscriptions, have to be placed in specific kinds of items to unlock their bonuses.
Most upgrade components can be retrieved from the equipment they're currently installed in, but certain components can only be salvaged by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool. Ascended armor and legendary gear may also contain upgrade components that can only be salvaged using a Black or Ascended Salvage Kit. Inscriptions can also add their own names to an item they modify. This can be seen when you right-click the upgraded weapon.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to add additional text features. They are usually inspired by icons or other visual symbols associated with the concept they represent, but they can be totally abstract. Glyphs are defined by Unicode which assigns a code for each symbol and allows them to be referenced in a variety of fonts. Some glyphs are available in multiple forms, such as small caps or swashes. Some have a single form, such as the capital letter A. The Glyphs panel includes a search box that lets you search by the name of a glyph as well as its CID or GID or Unicode value. You can also use the context menu to create a new glyph or edit the glyph set.
The context menu in the Glyphs Panel lets you choose a font to be used for the glyphs in a set. You can also select to keep a font in mind with an additional glyph. The Glyphs Panel displays the font selection for glyphs that are associated with more than one font.
The glyph metrics of fonts can affect the layout of text. A glyph, as an example could have a width which is the length it takes to reach the top of the font. The glyph could also have side bearings, which are white spaces between the left and right sides of a font. item upgrading are sometimes known as kerning and affect how the glyph is displayed in the document.
Glyphs may be upgraded in the Nightmare Dungeons at a Glyph Upgrade Altar. Each Nightmare Dungeon has a specific amount of time to be completed, after which the Glyph Upgrade altar will be revealed. The Glyph Upgrade altar enables players to use their Glyph XP earned from running the dungeon. It also increases the number of all the Paragon Board nodes within its radius.

Each glyph comes with its own primary stat as well as secondary stat bonuses, which can be added to the total hero's stats. These bonusses can help you decide which glyphs to upgrade, and where to put them on the Paragon Board.

The majority of players prefer the set bonus that is suitable for their class. This is because they want to improve their performance and get the most of their character. However, many of the set bonuses have different effects for different classes, and it isn't easy to decide which one is best.
Some of these set rewards can be acquired through tokens, or items that are earned by submitting many warzone-specific commendations to an operations vendor. They are also dropped by bosses of Operations or other content, such as weekly and daily dailies at level 75.
